HOTWORX congratulates franchisees, Brian and Brandy Nix, who were awarded a franchise license in the Wilmington market and recently opened their Leland, NC studio!
What originally motivated you to consider a business opportunity?
Both of us have successful careers established, but also desire to diversify our portfolio beyond a W-2. We've always wanted to have our own business but were looking for one that would incorporate our passion for fitness. We've been looking for an opportunity to earn an income by helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle.
What led you to explore franchising rather than an independent business?
We see franchising as a turn key opportunity that allows us to operate our own business while having partners to build a national brand.
What was your initial impression of your first HOTWORX session?
Brandy started going first and fell in love with it. I was hesitant for a while since I prefer lifting weights, but found it to be a unique additive to my workouts.
How was your experience going through the HOTWORX Discovery Process?
It was informative but we have gotten to know our local studio owners and had a good understanding of the business prior to the process. However, learning more about the overall financials and how the company survived COVID was encouraging and supported our desire to join.
How would you describe your Orientation Day and meeting the HOTWORX Executive Team?
It was a long day being held virtually, but that's the modern day world. It was nice to see the faces of the people that we'll be working with to build this brand and learning their roles.
What advice would you give to other candidates considering the opportunity to franchise with HOTWORX?
Don't wait too long before this is like trying to buy an Orangetheory franchise and you can't get in!

What excites you the most in offering HOTWORX to your community?
We're opening in a military town and think this will be a great way to support them and their families in achieving a healthy lifestyle. It's also on the coast, so we hope to provide future members who are struggling with their confidence on the beach to have a solution. Feeling embarrassed about your body can prevent many from enjoying such an awesome natural resource.
What goals do you plan to accomplish in your first year as a HOTWORX franchisee?
1,000 members and pursue the next location. Recruit and train a General Manager who is committed to not only our studio but also the brand. Our GM will be crucial to our success and that person's love for the brand will reinforce their passion for growth in the local market.
How will HOTWORX help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
We both believe that this brand is only at the tip of the iceberg today. As the brand grows, we expect to have opportunities to grow our own business that will allow us to decide how long we stay in the corporate world. The end goal with our own careers has always been to choose when to walk away sooner than later, and this appears to be an exciting option down the road.
