HOTWORX congratulates franchisees, Jhon and Laleh Cuthbertson, who were awarded 3 franchise licenses in the Houston market and recently opened their Houston, TX (Clear Lake) studio!
What originally motivated you to consider a business opportunity?
My background has always been in sales. I am currently doing business development for a rental cooling tower company in the oil and gas field. I previously did investment banking, recruiting, and advertising for the same industry and learned a lot. I would say my biggest motivation was to put my two biggest passions together, health and sales/customer service. I remember seeing HOTWORX in Louisiana when I lived there and thought how awesome it would be to own one in the future. Now, 5 years later, we have begun this amazing journey.
What led you to explore franchising rather than an independent business?
I personally believe having the benefit of the structure that comes with this franchise helps with finding success. I also like how this company recommends you to keep your day job. This gives us the ability to remove some risk in the process of starting a business.
What was your initial impression of your first HOTWORX session?
I went and did the Hot Cycle session with the mindset it was going to be easy. I cycle 10 miles every morning, so I figured it would be very easy. I told my buddy how I was going to crush it. I was humbled very fast. When I got out, I felt this rush of invincibility. The feeling is one of a kind, and at that moment, I knew this would be a big part of my future.
How was your experience going through the HOTWORX Discovery Process?
I loved it. The process was informative, and the best franchise process I have ever been involved in. I think the team and Cynthia did a great job making me feel like I could be a part of the HOTWORX family.
How would you describe your Orientation Day and meeting the HOTWORX Executive Team?
It was a great day with important information. I did so much research leading up to the call, so I was very prepared for the information that was provided. My favorite thing was the passion Steve had for customer service! I was already pumped, but after his quick speech, I was ready to open three locations!
What advice would you give to other candidates considering the opportunity to franchise with HOTWORX?
I would say if you love structure, deadlines, and want to be involved in changing lives for the better, then this is the franchise for you.

What excites you the most in offering HOTWORX to your community?
I'm most excited about the long lasting health benefits. Losing weight is great, but having something that helps with anxiety and depression in a world that is ignoring those things makes me very excited!
What goals do you plan to accomplish in your first year as a HOTWORX franchisee?
I will hit over 1001 members. I will be the fastest location to hit 500 members. I will hit $15-$20k profit per month at one point throughout the first year. My big goal is $32k per month in profit. I am hoping I can pull that off in 18-24 months.
How will HOTWORX help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
I am trying to build something for my family that can provide me with a more flexible lifestyle. I look at my life in the future, and I don't ever see a person that doesn't work. I want to work every day for the rest of my life. I just want to make sure the sacrifice of that time benefits my family, myself, and in the process helps my community. I am excited to see where we will be in 3-5 years. Believe. Do. Achieve. Repeat.
