Life as we know it is well different. Now more than ever finding some sort of normalcy, a grounding of sorts is key. One thing we know that is proven to do that is exercise. Logging on to the HOTWORX Burn Off App for a dose of yoga will benefit your physical appearance yes, but more so than anything it’s the mental benefits that I desperately need. Physical activity bumps up those feel good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. According to the Mayo Clinic exercise improves your mood, can relax you, and lower symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. I call working out my happy place. Even the CDC suggests exercise as one way to cope with the stress surrounding COVID-19.Then there’s the immune system. You know the network of cells through out our body that work together to prevent or limit infection from potentially harmful pathogens like bacteria and viruses. A healthy immune system is one line of defense against COVID-19 and regular exercise is its weapon. Harvard Medical School confirms working out improves cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, helps control body weight, and protects against a variety of diseases. It may contribute even more directly by promoting good circulation, which allows the cells and substances of the immune system to move through the body freely and do their job efficiently. Aka thanks exercise for the immune system boost. But, finding the motivation can be hard in these uncertain times. What do you do when there’s no schedule to follow or a HOTWORX sauna open near you? My advice, schedule a workout into your daily routine, just like that work conference call. An accountability partner or partners is helpful too. For myself, I have a noon virtual workout date with my friends every single day. It gives me something to look forward to and I can’t bail because they’re expecting me. Each day one of us gets a turn to pick a workout and you better believe the HOTWORX Burn Off App is my go to. Perhaps I’ll go with pilates next time.Written By: Brittany Copeland, HOTWORX Virtual Instructor
