HOTWORX congratulates franchisee, Sundee Fogerty, who was awarded a franchise license in the Denver market and recently opened her Lakewood, CO (Green Mountain) studio!
What originally motivated you to consider a business opportunity?
Originally, I was not necessarily looking at opening a business in general. I’ve worked both in the veterinary field and also the human medical field for many years. I was at a point that I wanted a new career challenge but wasn’t sure what I was specifically looking for. I was in the brainstorming stages of figuring out what my next "life move" was going to be. I became a member at a HOTWORX and really fell in love with the health benefits I was experiencing and the concept in general. I enjoyed the cross-training aspect from my traditional weightlifting too. I overheard that all HOTWORX locations were individually owned which planted the seed of curiosity. I then decided to see what information I could find out about the company/owning a location, not expecting it to lead anywhere specific. After my initial call, I was very intrigued with the possibility that this may be the “next life move” I was in search of.
What led you to explore franchising rather than an independent business?
I chose franchising because I was really impressed with HOTWORX and how they structured the process, success model, and business itself. I am new to the business world, so having people to guide me and to learn from was extremely appealing.
What was your initial impression of your first HOTWORX session?
My first impression of my first session was of surprising interest. It was completely different than the workouts I typically did, which was traditional weightlifting. I didn’t particularly like class formats either, preferring to work out on my own. I really liked the Virtual Instructor concept and max of 3 people at a time. I have always enjoyed the infrared sauna, so that was a huge bonus to get to add a workout to that experience. It also pleasantly surprised me how challenging the smaller, isometric movements were even though I considered myself to be in relatively good physical shape.
How was your experience going through the HOTWORX Discovery Process?
It was fantastic! I felt it was extremely organized and covered all the angles. I felt very prepared to make an educated decision by the end of the process. I also didn’t feel pressured in any way, which was very nice.
How would you describe your Orientation Day and meeting the HOTWORX Executive Team?
This was also fantastic. The people were so welcoming and friendly. They gave the vibe of joining a group of friends versus meeting new people for the first time. They all were so excited and knowledgeable about the company and their role in the process. What nerves I did have going into the day were quickly replaced with excitement for the new adventure as soon as the day began.
What advice would you give to other candidates considering the opportunity to franchise with HOTWORX?
I would advise to ask all the questions you can think of in order to feel comfortable with making a decision that is right for you personally. Everyone is so transparent with their answers and I felt like nothing was off limits to ask. I’d also say go into it with a realistic mindset since I feel like that will help you create goals and expectations that are reachable and that you can build on as the process continues.

What excites you the most in offering HOTWORX to your community?
I am excited for the people's connection. I want to help people achieve their own personal fitness and mental successes. I feel HOTWORX brings such a sense of community that I want to help expand to those that need somewhere to belong themselves.
What goals do you plan to accomplish in your first year as a HOTWORX franchisee?
I hope to hit (or exceed) my numbers that I will set up for myself and my studio. I hope to also build a strong and fun team. I think it is important to enjoy the people you work alongside. I think this also plays a huge role in how successful a business can be.
How will HOTWORX help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
I hope it opens more doors personally and professionally for me. I want to learn as much as I can from this experience while having fun doing it. I hope to meet like-minded people and develop lasting relationships. I hope by stepping out of my comfort zone and taking the chance on this new adventure I will continue to prove to myself anything is possible if you put the work into it!
