HOTWORX welcomes new franchisees, Carley & Nick Martin and Pauline & Brett Johnson, who were awarded a franchise license in the Seattle-Tacoma market and are currently in Presale at their Burlington, WA studio!
What originally motivated you to consider a business opportunity?
We were originally motivated to consider this franchise opportunity because Nick is a chiropractor who is the overseeing doctor for his sister, Pauline’s, weight loss clinic. While considering how to expand her business, Nick was reminded of a former chiropractic classmate, Jim Heptig, who had recently opened a HOTWORX. Saunas and fitness have always been big components of our lives, so it seemed like a very natural fit. Once Nick suggested it, Pauline, who is a go-getter and an amazing businesswoman, had scheduled a call with Cynthia within 24 hours and the rest is history.
What led you to explore franchising rather than an independent business?
Both Nick and Pauline already run small businesses of their own; Nick owns a chiropractic clinic with his brother, and Pauline runs 3 locations of a weight loss clinic. Neither has time or inclination to start another business from scratch, which makes a franchise with a branded concept and pre-built systems an ideal option for them.
What was your initial impression of your first HOTWORX session?
Since there are currently no HOTWORX locations in Washington State where we live, Nick and Carley spontaneously joined Brett and Pauline on a trip to Las Vegas in order to scout a HOTWORX studio, which landed us at the Henderson location. There, we met Nikki, who is an amazing store manager and really impressed us. We hope to find our own “Nikki” very soon. Carley, Pauline, and Nick were able to do a Hot Pilates session and were absolutely impressed. The workout was great and we SWEATED so much we were laughing during the workout. Needless to say, we loved it and drove away even more excited to move forward.
How was your experience going through the HOTWORX Discovery Process?
Our HOTWORX Discovery Process may have been longer than most, but it was mostly due to us wanting to make sure we had as many ducks in a row as possible. We have recently come to realize that we checked off quite a few things from the amazing HOTWORX phase checklists because of this early desire to be prepared. But the overall experience was good and we appreciated not being rushed, since that’s just not how we do things.
How would you describe your Orientation Day and meeting the HOTWORX Executive Team?
Orientation Day was a great day of meeting everyone and reviewing what was next to come. We felt that Cynthia prepared us very well - it was everything we expected and more! It was so reassuring to see the level of organization we are stepping into. It makes us, as franchisees, much more comfortable with the process. We appreciated seeing the faces behind the emails and knowing who we will be working with. We were impressed with how long this company has been around and has been able to adapt many times over with the ever-changing business world, always remaining successful. It gives great hope in opening a new business during what could be considered less than ideal timing for starting something new.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs considering the opportunity to franchise with HOTWORX?
Advice we would give to other candidates would be to take note of the professionalism of the HOTWORX team, processes, systems, communication, and education. As existing and successful business owners, we are quite impressed with the forethought and work that has been put into a process that gives every opportunity for success for new and upcoming franchise owners. We would recommend HOTWORX to other potential owners and already have!
What are the top 3 reasons you chose to franchise with HOTWORX?
1. It fits our goals of helping others better their health - in this case with exercise and the benefits of infrared heat.
2. It will create an additional revenue stream for both of our families.
3. We are excited to work out in our studio!
What excites you the most in offering HOTWORX to your community?
Our greatest excitement for bringing this to our community is how beautifully it intertwines with the health goals of our current businesses. We want people to feel empowered toward better health and this absolutely supports that.
What goals do you plan to accomplish in your first year as a HOTWORX franchisee?
Our goals are to have a successful opening with at least 300 members in pre-sales. Following that, we hope to build the momentum into revenues that can help us pay our SBA loan off as quickly as possibly and then thereafter, hopefully seek to open other HOTWORX studios.
How will HOTWORX help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
We believe that HOTWORX will further our personal and professional goals only as much as we put into it. Personally, we are motivated to do well because both of our families desire to have a supplemental income, which would provide more options and opportunities for us. Professionally, we are constantly searching for ways to help our patients and clients better their health in a safe and comfortable environment. In seeing what we have so far with HOTWORX, we believe it will provide us with both sets of goals.
