As I’m hanging out here at the Aconcagua base camp dining tent of our guide company Aconcagua Vision, a dome tent with a clear vinyl window and a view of the mountains, I was contemplating a blog topic. I was having breakfast with the team and mentioned I was about to write a blog in advance to be published right after our summit day. Then, Amanda, team member and marketing director for HOTWORX, spoke up and said I should write about the moment when your mind takes over to push you to a higher level of performance. I told her thanks for that topic idea, so here we go.
Fitness success requires will, and will requires an acknowledgment that your mind can indeed control where you take your body. Elite athletes know that when your mind is right you can do things with your body that you once thought not possible, and out of reach so to speak. As a quick side note, this same “will” can work wonders for your business too!
To quote Amanda, who is a professional baseball player in the national women’s league, from our conversation she said, “To get to the next level of performance, you have to master your mindset!” That conversation was perfect as we acclimatized at base camp to get ready for the big 9000 ft. push to the summit at 22,840. The final push to the highest peak in the Americas will be the most difficult thing the team members have ever done. It will require a WILL to get to the top.
In fitness, to get results and to achieve your goals you have to get outside of your comfort zone to go to the next level. When you use your mind to push your body to higher levels of performance you will learn more about yourself.
People can always do more than they think they can do. The key is to use your mind to push through the discomfort on your journey to the top, whether it is an actual mountain or if it’s to be in the best fitness shape of your life. This is the WILL TO SUCCEED!
