A quick Google search for fitness apps will reveal pages of sites that discuss the features of fitness app after fitness app after fitness app. There is an incredible world of fitness apps out there. There are so many options, almost to the point of causing stress. All of these apps were designed to help people get in shape, but the features sometimes lose sight of the fact that you have to actually do the workout, not just show up to the gym or submit to some guilt based motivational functionality. In many instances, the fitness app world has fallen victim to scope creep.After researching for this blog post two things came to mind, the “KISS principle” we all know as keep it simple stupid, and “Occam’s Razor” which refers to the philosophical idea or scientific principle that the simplest answer is usually correct.When we created the HOTWORX Burn Off App, we felt that we needed to allow our members to use the app in conjunction with any fitness device that they trusted so long as it had a heart rate sensor for better accuracy, so we developed the app to allow users to do that with a very simple feature.
