Infrared Saunas Outperform Traditional Saunas

There are two types of saunas, traditional and infrared.

Traditional Sauna:

The traditional saunas are heated with convection heat and require higher temperatures to heat the core body of the user.  These saunas primarily heat the air surrounding the user.

Traditional saunas can allow the user to add humidity by throwing water over the rocks that sit on top of the heater. Traditional saunas can take up to 30 minutes to heat up to the effective temperature range of around 180 degrees.  The air is more difficult to breathe at such high temperatures because of the higher humidity when water is thrown onto the rocks to create steam.

Infrared (IR) Sauna:

The more modern infrared heat saunas warm the core body of the user from within due to the absorption of the infrared light waves, and for that reason they require lower sauna room temperatures.  This enables users to remain in the sauna longer due to the more reasonable environment.  This air is much more breathable in an IR sauna because the humidity is low and because of the lower heat.  This type of air quality is preferred for working out.

The IR sauna has a shorter warm up time of 10-15 min, which gives it another advantage over the traditionally heated saunas.

Traditionally, saunas have been used as a post workout recovery tool and for a relaxation/detox experience.

Traditions are sometimes meant to be disrupted…

In August of 2014, the sauna game was changed.  It was then that, what is now known as the HOTWORX infrared workout sauna, was designed and engineered to be used for isometric exercise and for high intensity interval training.  The first prototype was introduced at a franchise expo in New York in the summer of 2015.  HOTWORX currently has two patents pending on this innovative new workout sauna.

Now users can benefit from a great workout while retaining all of the traditional recovery and detox effects as well.
