During my fitness career spanning the last three decades, I have watched the percentage of health club members within the population double. In the 80’s, 10% of the population kept a fitness club membership, and now it has risen to over 20%! That represents a massive increase in the number of health club members. The message is slowly getting through.
Almost all would agree that more results in less time is a good thing for most any progressive endeavor in life. Consider Moore’s Law, or the breaking of Olympic records, for example.
If we can attract even more people into a regular fitness program because they are able to get better results in less time, then perhaps we can accelerate, even more, the recruitment of individuals into the culture of wellness. It is a noble pursuit, and there is so much room for improvement. Let’s face it, 20% is better than 10%, but it still sucks! We can do better until 100% of the population joins in.
