Infrared Wavelength

We know that light travels in waves, and that those waves consist of particles known as photons thanks to Einstein.  The length of the light wave from crest to crest determines the color of the light within the visible spectrum and it determines the effect the light has on objects from the non-visible spectrum as well.

Ionizing v. Non Ionizing:

“Radiation is generally classified ionizing or non-ionizing, based on whether it has enough energy to knock electrons off atoms that it interacts with, as well as being able to do lower-energy damage such as breaking chemical bonds in molecules. Ionizing radiation, which is caused by unstable atoms giving off energy to reach a more stable state, is more of a health threat to humans because it involves changing the basic makeup of atoms in cells, and more specifically the DNA molecules inside of cells.” ¹

Somewhere in the UVA to UVB ultraviolet range (to the left of the Visible spectrum as depicted in the diagram above) wavelengths begin to generate DNA damaging light waves.  These waves are defined by the dictionary as: high-energy radiation capable of producing ionization in substances through which it passes. ²  It is well known that overexposure to ultraviolet light can cause damage to the skin and even skin cancer due to the alteration of cell DNA from ionization.

The ionizing wavelengths fade out and end within the ultraviolet spectrum as the light waves get longer and begin to fall within the visible.

On the other side away from the UV radiation (to the right of the Visible spectrum as depicted by the diagram above) the longer infrared light waves fall just outside of the visible spectrum.  We know that the wavelength of infrared is non-ionizing and therefore, non-damaging to the human body.

In fact, infrared wavelengths can penetrate the skin up to 1.5 inches or more and can provide many positive benefits to the human body.

These benefits include:

  • detoxification
  • increased blood circulation
  • lowered blood pressure
  • suppressed sunburn cell formation
  • treatment for arteriovenous fistula
  • improved sleep
  • reduced pain and stiffness
  • lowered side effects of diabetes
  • improved mood
  • inhibited growth of some types of cancer cells
  • improved motor functions
  • lowered nasal inflammation (allergic rhinitis)
  • increased rate of caloric burn
  • accelerated injury recovery
  • improved immunity functions
  • lowered stress

HOTWORX has combined the advantages of infrared energy and heat with over 10 unique isometric and HIIT workouts to provide for more workout in less time with the use of an advanced, patent pending, workout sauna.
